HUBCAM NDI

iOS NDI camera transmitter with browser-based studio control.

HubCam NDI turns an iPhone into a fixed-lens NDI® video source controlled entirely over HTTP from any computer browser, with parallel local recording directly to the iPhone Photo Library.

Designed for tripod and ceiling rigs where the phone screen stays off, digital zoom is disabled, and camera parameters (shutter, ISO, Kelvin white balance, focus distance, local recording, and tally color) are operated remotely.

RIG LOCKiOS Guided Access Compatible
Part A — One-Time iOS Settings Configuration
01 Open Guided Access On the iPhone, open the system Settings app and navigate to:
Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access
02 Enable Master Switch Turn on the Guided Access toggle.
03 Configure Passcode & Face ID Open Passcode Settings, set a 6-digit passcode, and enable Face ID (or Touch ID) for fast unlocking at wrap.
04 Enable Triple-Click Shortcut Ensure Accessibility Shortcut is switched ON so triple-clicking the physical Side Button invokes Guided Access.
Part B — Locking the Camera on Set
01 Launch HubCam NDI Open HubCam NDI on the iPhone. Note: iOS hides the Guided Access option when you are on the Home Screen; an app must be open in the foreground.
02 Triple-Click Side Button Press the physical Side Button 3 times quickly and select Guided Access from the system sheet.
03 Disable Side Button & Touch Tap Options in the bottom-left corner of the Guided Access screen and turn OFF Side Button (Sleep/Wake) and Touch. This prevents anyone from accidentally locking the phone or touching the screen during a shoot, then tap Start (top right).
04 Confirm Status & Turn Off OLED Display In the web controller top bar, verify that the status readout shows Guided Access Active. Click IPHONE DISPLAY ON (or press the physical Volume Down button on the iPhone) to switch to IPHONE DISPLAY OFF so the OLED screen turns black (1% brightness, GPU preview disabled) while NDI continues streaming uninterrupted.
To exit Guided Access: Triple-click the Side Button, enter your passcode (or double-click the Side Button to authenticate with Face ID), and tap End in the upper-left corner.
URL Connecting from Browser Tap HELP on the iPhone top bar to view the device IP and port (for example, http://192.168.1.45:8080). Open one browser tab per camera on your computer. The browser tab title automatically updates to match the camera's NAME.
REC Parallel Local Recording Click ● RECORD in the Web UI (or tap REC on the iPhone) to record locally in hardware-accelerated HEVC (Small file) or H.264 (Max Compatibility) without interrupting the live NDI feed. Local recordings always capture both video and live microphone audio (even when the NDI stream audio is muted) and save directly to the iPhone Photo Library when stopped. A live GB Free indicator monitors remaining iPhone storage.
VOL Volume Down Display Toggle Press the physical Volume Down button on the iPhone at any time to toggle the local OLED screen between Display Off (power-saving blackout) and Display On without touching the screen.
BW Zero Preview Overhead The web interface transmits only lightweight JSON state updates (~650ms polling) and never streams MJPEG/WebRTC video to the browser, preserving 100% of Wi-Fi airtime and thermal headroom for the NDI feed.
SC Scene Presets (1–4) Click Scene 1–Scene 4 to recall saved lens, focus, exposure, and white balance settings. Hold Shift + Click on any scene button to overwrite it with the current camera state.

OPTICAL LENS LOCK

Switches directly between physical AVCaptureDevice sensors (0.5x, 1x, Telephoto, Front) with videoZoomFactor fixed at 1.0. Digital crop zoom is disabled.

SHUTTER & ISO PRIORITY

Supports full Auto Exposure, full Manual Exposure, Shutter Priority (fixed shutter + Auto ISO), and ISO Priority (fixed ISO + Auto Shutter).

KELVIN WHITE BALANCE

Continuous manual temperature control from 2500K to 10000K using chromaticity-to-device RGB gain conversion, plus instant 3200K, 4200K, 5600K, and 6500K presets.

COLOR RING IDENTIFICATION

8 assignable screen-border colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Cyan, Magenta, plus OFF). Renders above the blackout layer so camera ID remains visible when the display is off.

THERMAL TELEMETRY

Real-time thermal estimation in °C mapped across four states (Normal, Warm, Hot, Critical). Optional automatic thermal protection disables the local display if the chassis reaches Hot/Serious state.

BATTERY OPTIMIZATION

Defaults to NV12 4:2:0 hardware pixel buffers and muted NDI audio capture. High-drain modes (4K, 50/60fps, BGRA, and Full SpeedHQ bandwidth) are explicitly labeled in the UI.

CAM Camera & Microphone Video and audio captured by HubCam NDI are processed exclusively on your device to transmit NDI® streams over your local area network (LAN) and, when triggered by you, to record video files locally on your iPhone. No video or audio data is ever uploaded to external servers.
LIB Photo Library Access Write-only Photo Library permission (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription) is used solely to save your local video recordings directly to the iOS Photos app. HubCam NDI cannot read or access existing photos or videos on your device.
LAN Local Network & Telemetry The embedded HTTP control server (port 8080) and NDI® sender operate strictly within your local Wi-Fi / Ethernet network. HubCam NDI contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no cloud tracking.
